Bruce Mitchell

    W. Bruce Mitchell, 77, of Parma, died Tuesday, January 18, 1994, at a Nampa nursing home.  Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 22, 1994, at Kirkpatrick Memorial Community Church, Parma.  Rev. David Kegley will officiate with fraternal rites by Parma Lodge #49 A.F. & A.M.  Interment will be at the Parma Cemetery.  Services are under the direction of Dakan Funeral Chapel, Parma.
    Mr. Mitchell was born February 17, 1916, at Parma, the son of Charles and Lucy Mitchell.  He was raised and educated at Parma and graduated from the University of Idaho in 1939 with a degree in electrical engineering.  He then began a career with Idaho Power at the Swan Fails power plant as an oiler and later became the power plant operator there and later at the American Falls and Upper Salmon plants.  He later moved to Boise where he eventually became a senior engineer in the general offices and then later became the studies engineer in the power department in 1964.  He retired May 31, 1980, from Idaho Power with the position of power operations and standards engineer.
    Mr. Mitchell started a scholarship program at Parma High School known as the Bruce Mitchell Foundation Scholarship Fund that continues to provide scholarships to students from Parma High School.
    Mr. Mitchell was a member of the Parma Lodge #49 A.F. & A.M.; the El Korah Shrine Temple of Boise and the Scottish Rite Bodies; and Kirkpatrick Memorial Community Church.
    He is survived by his cousins, Pat Steele of Eugene, Oregon, Louise Arnold of King City, Oregon, Eleanor Hayman of Boise and Norma Coiner of Twin Falls.
    Memorials may be made to the Bruce Mitchell Foundation Scholarship Fund in care of Betty McCormick, 28551 French Road, Parma ID 83660; or to the Shriner's Hospital for Crippled Children, Fairfax and Virginia, Salt Lake City, Utah.
