Services for
Walter D. Mattox, 85, of Caldwell, who died of natural causes Saturday, April 11, at
the Caldwell
hospital, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at the Dakan
Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. Officiating
will be the Rev. Royce Wright of the
Treasure
Valley
Christian
Center.
Interment will be at
Hillcrest
Memorial
Gardens,
Caldwell.
Mr. Mattox was
born Oct. 21, 1901, at
Sargent,
Neb., to James and Almeada Mattox.
He was raised at
Sargent and married Ada Gressley, Aug. 1, 1923.
He farmed in
Nebraska
until 1936 when they moved to
Nampa.
They moved to
Marsing in 1937 and farmed there until moving to Donnelly in
1947 where he farmed and also was a carpenter.
They came to Caldwell in 1959 where he worked for Idaho
Meat Packers for 30 years. His
wife died Nov. 6, 1982.
He is survived by three sons, Norman,. Gerald and Marlin
Mattox, all of Caldwell; five daughters, Mrs. Cecil
(Darlene) Wilson of Caldwell, Mrs. Albert (Donna) Gestrin of
Donnelly, Mrs. Ward (Evelyn) Beavers of Caldwell, Mrs.
George (Mary) Beavers of Caldwell, and Mrs. Terry (Anita)
Dietrich of Boise; 19 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren;
and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded
in death by three brothers, three sisters and one grandson.
Friends may
call at the Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell, from 4 p.m. to 8
p.m. today.
