Private family services for Wiley Douglas "Doug" Pate, 63,
of Nampa, who died Thursday, Oct. 30, at the Nampa hospital
of cancer, will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, at Flahiff
Funeral Chapel, Nampa.
Arthur R. Hauge of the Calvary Baptist Church will
officiate. Private burial services will be in
Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Caldwell.
Mr. Pate was born April 24, 1923. at Emporia, Kan., to LeRoy
and Clara Wortman Pate, and was reared and attended schools
at Kanorado, Kan. He served in the U.S. Army during
World War II and later served during the Korean conflict.
He married Georgia K. Halbert on Nov.
27, 1951, at Truth or Consequences, N.M., and they made
their home in Wichita, Kan., until moving to Nampa in 1969.
He was a barber and had begun his training in that
profession at age 15. He had worked at the Fuller
Barber Shop in Nampa until retiring in 1985.
He was a member of the Baptist Church and of Post No. 63,
Veterans of Foreign Wars, Boise.
survived by his wife of Nampa; four sons, Stephen D. Pate of
Boise, Barry W. Pate of Caldwell, and Ronald C. Pate and
Kelly R. Pate, both of Nampa; two daughters, Cheryl J.
Randall of Nampa, and Nancy S. Purselley of Coal Strip,
Mont.; a brother, Byron Pate of Weldon, Calif.; nine
grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son and a brother.
