W. Miles

    Funeral Services for W. "Fred" Miles, 58, of Nampa, who died Friday. Jan. 17, at a Boise hospital from natural causes, will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Nampa Stake Center Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1500 Smith Ave. Ext., with Bishop Darius Bailey, Miles' brother-in-law, of the Nampa Ninth Ward officiating.  Interment will follow in the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Caldwell.  Services and interment are under the direction of the Alsip Funeral Chapel, Nampa.
    Mr. Miles was born on April 23, 1927, at Blackfoot to Lorenzo and Pearl Miles.  He was reared and educated in Tyhee and served in the U.S. Navy from June 1, 1945, to Dec. 18, 1945. He married Sheryl Mae Bailey on Dec 15, 1949, at the Idaho Falls L.D.S. temple.  Following their marriage they made their home in Pocatello where he worked for Bannock County.  They later moved to Nampa where they made their home.  He worked for Kit Manufacturing for a few years as a truck driver and later owned and operated Miles Leisure Living Center.  In 1983 he and his wife became the custodians at the Nampa L.D.S. Stake Center on Smith Avenue Extension.  His wife preceded him in death on Nov. 11, 1985.  He was a very active member of the Nampa Eleventh Ward, and throughout his years as a member of the L.D.S. Church he had served as Sunday school superintendent and as a member of the high priest quorum.
    He is survived by one daughter and her husband, Kellie S. and Mark Jensen of Nyssa, Ore.; one brother, Merthan Miles of Pocatello; two sisters, Evelyn Stuart and Opal Ward of Pocatello; three granddaughters, Kolette, Sydnie and Stefanie Jensen of Nyssa; and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Clifford and Roy Miles.
    Friends may call at the Alsip Funeral Chapel today until 9 p.m., Monday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Tuesday from 8 to 11 a.m. at the chapel and from noon until 12:45 at the church.  The family will greet friends at the Alsip Funeral Chapel on Monday evening from 7 to 9 p.m.
