Woody Owen
Rosary for Woody Owen, 73, Nampa, who died Wednesday, Jan.
22, at the Nampa hospital, will be recited at 8 p.m. Sunday,
at the Flahiff Funeral Chapel of Nampa.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m.
Monday, at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Nampa. The Rev.
Merle J. Fisher, S.M., will be the celebrant. Burial
will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Nampa.
Mr. Owen was born Nov. 12, 1912, at Eureka Springs, Ark., a
son of James L. and Sarah M. Hiffle Owen. He moved
with his family to Nampa in the summer of 1918. He
attended Nampa schools, graduating from Nampa High School in
1931. He worked in the Civilian Conservation Corps in
1933. He married Jean W. Stinson June
16, 1935, in Nampa and they made their home here. He
worked for Idaho Animal Products for a few years prior to
becoming an employee of the Union Pacific Railroad in 1937.
He retired as a locomotive engineer in 1972, due to a
disability. He was a member of St.
Paul's Catholic Church and of Nampa Lodge 1389, B.P.O.E.
He is survived by his wife of Nampa; a son, Pete Owen of
Nampa; two daughters, Karen L. Bass of Reynolds Creek;
Marilee J. Wood of Meridian; six granddaughters, four
grandsons, two great-granddaughters, one great-grandson, one
niece and two nephews. He was
preceded in death by his parents, one son, one brother and
two sisters. Memorials may be made to
a favorite charity or flowers may be sent.
Friends may call from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to
10:30 a.m. Monday at Flahiff Funeral Chapel of Nampa.
