J. "John" Pfeifer, 80, of Caldwell, died Saturday, Feb. 1,
1997, at a Boise hospital. Graveside services will be
conducted at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 6, 1997, at Hillcrest
Memorial Gardens, Caldwell, under the direction of Flahiff
Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. A memorial service will follow
at 3 p.m., Thursday at the Deer Flat Free Methodist Church,
Caldwell. Rev. Al Nelson will officiate. Family
and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery.
Mr. Pfeifer was born Oct. 23, 1916, at Harrisburg, Nebraska, a
son of Christian and Iva Campbell Pfeifer. He was reared
and educated in Nebraska and served with the U.S. Army during
WW II. Following his military service, he moved to Idaho
and married Juanita Griggs on Jan. 25, 1946, in Caldwell.
The couple was later divorced and he married Betty Sampont on
May 14, 1949, at Winnemucca, NV. John worked as a
stockman at area sale yards prior to his retirement. He
always enjoyed working with livestock.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, Betty of Caldwell are four
sons and their wives, Steven and Verna Hall of Caldwell, Bill
and Christine Pfeifer of Caldwell, Chris and Margy Pfeifer of
Nampa and Mike and Carol Pfeifer of Twin Falls; two daughters,
Saundra and Harry Bork of Baker City, Oregon, and Cathy
Pfeifer of Caldwell; two sisters, Gladys Graham of Cheyenne,
Wyo., and Edith Streeks of Harrisburg, Neb.; 14 grandchildren;
9 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren and several
nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1
brother and 3 sisters. The family suggests memorials to the
Deer Flat Free Methodist Church Building Fund, 17703 Beet
Road, Caldwell, ID 83605.
