Graveside services for Cyril M.
Puckett, 86, of Rt. 2, Caldwell, who died Sunday, March 20,
1988, at the Caldwell hospital of natural causes, will be held
at 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 25, at the Greenleaf Cemetery.
Memorial services will follow at 2 p.m. at the Greenleaf
Friends Church. Officiating will be pastors Kenneth
Pitts and Donald Lamm of the Greenleaf Friends Church, under
the direction of the Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.
Mr. Puckett was born May 3, 1901, at Allen, Neb., to Ira and
Elsie Roberts Puckett. He grew up on the family farm
with six brothers and three sisters. The family attended the
Springbank Friends Church near Allen. Cyril graduated
from high school at Allen in 1918. He worked for other
farmers in the Allen area and married Eleanor Emry at Norden,
Neb., June 26, 1924. They established their home in
Allen where he farmed for 10 years and where seven of their 10
children were born.
In 1937, he took
the family to Victor, Mont., where he spent five years before
moving to the Gallatin Valley in 1942. Cyril brought his
family to Greenleaf in 1944 for the purpose of having his
children attend the Greenleaf Friends Academy. Six of
his children graduated from the Academy. At the time of
their coming to Greenleaf, Cyril took up independent trucking
and later went to work as a hired hand for George Weber, a
local stockman. In 1966 he became semi-retired and had
continued to live in the Greenleaf area.
Surviving him are his wife, Eleanor of Greenleaf; his
children, Bennie of Kamiah, Mary of Portland, Ore., Wayne of
El Cajon, Calif., Keith of Gresham, Ore., Kenneth of Portland,
Marilynn (Mrs. Claude) Meyers of Tianjin, China, Larry of
Santee, Calif., Peggy (Mrs. Frank) Morse of Greenleaf and
Bobby of Ontario, Ore. Also surviving him are his
sisters, Zella (Mrs. Freddie) Zeimer of Sandy, Ore., Zeta
(Mrs. Anvie) Swanson of Sioux City, Iowa; his brothers, Neil
of Sioux City and Jim of Fender, Neb.; 23 grandchildren; and
preceded in death by four brothers, a sister and a daughter,
Lauretta (Mrs. Charles) Guenther.
Memorials may be made to the Greenleaf Friends Academy,
Friends may call at
the Dakan Funeral Chapel from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday.
