Harry Powell

     Graveside services for Harry R. Powell, 77, of Nampa, who died Tuesday, May 19, at the Nampa hospital, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, at the Building of Reverence, Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Caldwell.
    The Rev. Claude Brown of the Bible Baptist Church, Mountain Home, will officiate under the direction of Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Nampa,
    Mr. Powell was born Dec. 17, 1909, at Rye Valley, Ore., to Francis Marion and Nettie Janette Cartwright Powell.  He was reared and educated at Baker, Ore.  He moved to Nampa in 1923 where he later became an employee of the Union Pacific Railroad.
    He married Marjorie E. Gundersen Nov. 22, 1932. in Nampa.  They lived in Nampa; Boise; Greeley. Colo.; Payette; La Grande, Ore.; and Pocatello returning to Nampa in 1949.  He retired as a train dispatcher in April 1972.  They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in Hawaii in 1982.
    He was a member of the First Christian Church and Nampa Lodge No. 1389. B.P.O.E.
    He is survived by his wife of Nampa; a daughter, Marilyn Looney of Reno, Nev.; a son, David Powell of Upland, Calif.; two sisters, Shirley Thompson of Baker, and Mirtie Knighten of Garden Grove, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by two sisters and six brothers.
    Memorials may be made to a favorite charity or flowers may be sent.
