Melvin Poindexter

     Services for Melvin Poindexter, 77, 210 S. Randolph St., Melba, who died Friday, May 11 at a Nampa hospital of cancer will be conducted at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Alsip Funeral Chapel with the Rev. J. Harley Adams of the Melba Friends Church officiating.  Interment will follow in the Melba Cemetery.
    He was born May 1, 1907 at Johnstown, Mo. to Luther and Ada Zeiler Poindexter.  He was reared and educated in Johnstown and Johnson City, Mo.
    He married Lucille Zink June 5, 1929 at Butler, Mo.  In September of 1920 they moved to Twin Falls.  They moved to Lakeview, Ore. in 1942 where he started farming.  In 1947 they moved to Gooding.
    In 1952 they moved to Melba, where they continued farming.  He retired in 1979 and they moved into town where they had since resided.  He loved to work in his garden and his yard.
    He was a member of the Church of God, the Walters Butte Grange, the Nampa B.P.O.E. No. 1389 and the Gem Sprout Good Sam Club.
    He is survived by his wife of Melba; one son, John Poindexter and his wife Louise of Tacoma, Wash.; one daughter, Mrs. bill (Wynoma) Froscher, Boise: one sister, Mrs. Dimple Hedrick of Denver, Colo.; two brothers, Martin Poindexter of Clinton, Mo. and Henry Poindexter of Beloit, Wisc.; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
    The family suggest memorial contributions to the Mountain States Tumor Institute, 151 E. Bannock St., Boise, 83702 or flowers may be sent.
