Robert Poland

     Graveside services for Robert E.L. Poland, 75, of Caldwell, who died Sunday, November 1, 1992, at the Caldwell hospital, will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, November 6, 1992, at the Wilder Cemetery, Wilder, Idaho.  Dale Peterson will officiate.  Military Rites will be by the Idaho National Guard under the direction of Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.
    Mr. Poland was born on February 19, 1917, at Wilbur, Colorado, a son of George and Barbara Poland,  He was reared and educated there.  He moved to Idaho in 1934 and settled in Payette.  He entered the U.S. Army and served during WW II.  After his discharge he served in the Idaho National Guard until retiring.  Robert had worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for 30 1/2 years.  He married Betty Farnworth Gale on February 12, 1077, at Winnemucca, Nevada.  They resided in Caldwell.
    Robert enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid fisherman.
    Survivors include his wife, Betty; three children, Mona Centers, Roberta Kendall and Robert Poland; two stepsons, David and Richard Gale; eight grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; one great-grandson; four brothers, Ted, Bert Ray and Huberts; four sisters, Ernestine, Bonnie, Betty and Floy.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters.
    Friends may call Thursday from 3 until 8 p.m. and Friday from 8 until 10 a.m. at the Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.
