Emma Roberts

     Emma E. Roberts, 97, of Nampa, died on Monday, Feb. 24, 1997, at a Nampa care center.  Funeral Services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 27, 1997, at the Melba Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with Bishop Mark Hoagland officiating.  Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Caldwell.  Services are under the direction of Alsip Funeral Chapel, Nampa.
    Emma E. Roberts was born on January 9, 1900, at McGregor, Texas.  At an early age she moved with her family to Lincoln, Nebraska where she was reared and educated.  She later moved to Kansas, Oklahoma. She married Thurman H. Roberts Sr. on June 23, 1917, in Siloam Springs, Arkansas.  In 1921 they moved to New Mexico.  In 1942 they moved to Oklahoma where they resided until 1947 when they moved to Willamina, Oregon.  In the early 1960s they moved to Nampa.  In 1965 they returned to Oklahoma.  Thurman pre-ceded her in death in 1969.  Following his death she returned to Idaho making her home in the Nampa area.  Emma loved her family very much and really enjoyed being with them.  She also enjoyed cooking, sewing and music.  She was a member of the LDS Church.
    Emma is survived by 3 sons and daughters-in-law, Luther and Josephine Roberts, Nampa, Dudley and Norene Roberts, Melba, and Marion and Beverly Roberts, Gresham, OR; a daughter and son-in-law, Audrey and Bert Smith, Portland, OR; a daughter-in-law, Rosalie Roberts, Nampa; 28 grandchildren; 34 great-grand-children and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
    She was also preceded in death by a son, Thurman H. Roberts Jr. in 1989 and 2 infant brothers.
    Friends may call at the Alsip Funeral Chapel today from 2 to 8 p.m.  The family will greet friends at the church on Thursday from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. The family suggests memorials to the Missionary Fund of the LDS Church in care of Bishop Mark Hoagland, 748 Southside Blvd., Melba, ID 83641.
