Grover Staggs

    Private graveside services for Grover Clarence Staggs, 92, Nampa, who died at his home Friday, Feb 8, 1985, were held Feb 9 at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Caldwell.
    He was born Dec 25, 1892 in Nebraska, a son of the late Elijah and May Staggs. He was reared in Indiana and married Gladys May Hessenflow. He served in the medical corps of the U.S. Army during WWI. Following the war, they moved to Belmont, ID, where he worked as a forest ranger for a number of years.
    He then began working as a prospector in the late 1920's in Idaho and Nevada. He had discovered several profitable mines during his career, including the Austin-Jumbo min in the awakening district near Winnemucca, NV, in the mid-1930's. He had made his home in Nampa for the past two years.
    He is survived by one son, Charles Deke Staggs, Lake Isabelle, CA; four daughters, Gail Brown, Morro Bay, CA, Loretta McCain, Nampa, Marguerite Bockman, Homedale and Donna Blising, Phoenix, AZ; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by his wife in 1970, one brother, James Staggs, and one sister, Edna Bradley.
