Jess P. Rainey, 83, of Boise, died
Sunday. November 26, 1995, at a Boise hospital of natural
causes. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m.
Thursday, November 20, 1995, at Dakan Funeral Chapel,
Caldwell. Rev. Gary Smith of the Red Rock Christian
Church will officiate. Interment will follow at
Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Caldwell.
Mr. Rainey was born December 26, 1911, at Winchester,
Kentucky, the son of Major and Eliza Jane Fisher Rainey.
He came to Idaho in 1935 as a Sergeant in the Civilian
Conservation Corps based at Lake Lowell. He married Ruth
Fleck February 19, 1938, in Payette. Mr. Rainey engaged
in a long career in the restaurant business in Idaho and
Oregon. In 1953 he opened the Kitty Hawk Restaurant at
the Boise Air Terminal and managed it until his
retirement in 1976. He was a devoted and loving husband,
father and grandfather and avidly supported his children and
grandchildren in their endeavors.
Rainey was a life member of the Pendleton Elk's Lodge and the
Red Rock Christian Church.
survived by his wife, Ruth of Boise; three sons and
daughters-in-law, Ronald and Emily Rainey of Caldwell, Robert
and Marilyn Rainey of Silverton, Oregon, and Roger and Susan
Rainey of Evergreen, Colorado; a brother, Milton Rainey of N.
Carolina; a sister, Ann Asbrock of Ohio; seven grandchildren,
Jess Edwin Rainey of Portland, Jallen Carey and her husband,
Peter of Portland, Jenette Rainey of Los Angeles, Scott Rainey
and his wife, Chris of Caldwell, Stephanie Rainey of Ft.
Worth, Texas. Augusta Rainey and Clara Lynne Rainey both of
Evergreen Highland, Colorado; two stepgrandchildren, Jeff Lowe
and Beth Lowe, both of' Salem, Oregon, and four
great-grandchildren. Erin, Tom, Sarah and Andrea Lynne.
Mr. Rainey's family suggests that
memorials be made to the Red Rock Christian Church Youth
Group, 11241 South Roosevelt, Boise, ID 83705, or to the
Community House Child Care Center, 575 S. 13th, Boise, ID
