Alfred Bethell

    Alfred E. Bethell, 83, of Nampa, died Wednesday, November 20, 1996, at an Emmett health care center.  Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, November 23, at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Caldwell.  Arrangement under the direction of Persons-Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Nampa.
    Alfred was born July 29, 1913, at Ottawa, Canada, a twin son of Albert and Mabel Martin Bethell.  When he was 15 years old he moved to Detroit, Michigan, where he began his career at Western Union Telegraphs Company delivering telegrams by bicycle. He joined the U.S. Army during World War II.  He married Tisah Dolin on July 8, 1963, in Detroit where he continued working for Western Union until he retired in 1976.  At which time they moved to Nampa.  He was a foster grandparent at the Idaho State School and Hospital for 16 years.
    Survivors include his wife, Tisah Bethell, of Nampa; one son, Jim Frazier and his wife, Ann, Nampa; two daughters, Carolyn Schwede and husband, Gary, of Canton, Michigan, and Mildred Radford of San Bernardino, California; two sisters both of Detroit, Michigan; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one of which was a twin, and one sister.
    Friends may call today until 9 p.m. at Persons-Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Nampa.
