Alfred Branen

     Services for Alfred L. "Rennie" Branen, 71, Wilder, who died Thursday, Dec. 19, at a Caldwell nursing home following an extended illness, were held today at the Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.  Mr. Branen's son, Larry Branen, and the Rev. Ray A. Thompson of the Caldwell Untied Methodist Church officiated.  Interment followed in the Wilder Cemetery.
     Mr. Branen was born April 30, 1914, at Wilder, a son of George and Clara Kincaid Branen.  He lived with his family at Wilder on a homestead and helped his father and brothers who were farming there.  He graduated from Wilder schools in 1933.  He had helped his father establish one of the first commercial orchards in the Wilder area and helped deliver fruit in Wilder and the surrounding areas.  He married Mera Graves in September 1938 at Caldwell.  Following their marriage he continued to farm in the Wilder area.  In 1946, they moved to the farm where they had lived until the present time.  He was an active family man and helped his children with many projects, including 4-H.
     He is survived by his wife of Wilder; a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Laurel Branen of Moscow; a daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Ron Rosencrantz of Caldwell; a brother, George Branen of Middleton; a sister Mary Hampson of Boise; a sister-in-law, Clara Branen of Homedale; granchildren, Arick, Greg and Josh Branen, Adam and Wendy Rosencrantz and Susan Rosencrantz; a great-granddaughter, Amanda Rosencrantz.; and several nieces and nephews.
     He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert Branen.
