Altsie Butterfield

     Altsie Butterfield, 72, of Nampa, died Wednesday, April 10, 1991, at the Caldwell hospital.  Memorial services will be held Saturday, April 13, at 11 a.m. at the Nampa 4th Ward Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 143 S. Canyon, Nampa.  Bishop Max Everton of the Nampa 4th Ward will officiate.  Interment will follow in the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Caldwell.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Alsip Funeral Chapel, Nampa.
     Mrs. Butterfield was born March 25, 1919, at Lyons Falls
, N.Y.  Altsie was reared and educated in Lowville N.Y., graduating from Lowville High School in 1937.  She began her teaching career in a one-room school house and continued teaching for several years.  Her speciality was reading with an emphasis in phonics.  She married James LeRoy Butterfield Aug. 2, 1941, at Lowville.  Upon James’ retirement in 1978, they moved to Caldwell.  Mr. Butterfield passed away July 21, 1988.  After Mr. Butterfield’s death, Altsie moved to Nampa and had resided there since.  Altsie was a member of the Nampa 4th Ward LDS Church.
     Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Bishop James and Nancy Butterfield of Pocatello and Stephen and Gaya Butterfield of Nampa; three daughters and sons-in-law, Patrician and David Palmer of Longmont, Colo., Carol and Kenneth Hutchins of Rochester, N.Y. and Mary Hanson of Cedar City, Utah; a sister Mary Fairchild of Lowville; 21 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
     Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.

     The family suggests memorials be made to the Idaho Youth Ranch, Box 534, Rupert, ID 83550; or flowers may be sent.
