Funeral services for Mr. Boyd Burnie, 80, of Nampa, who died
Wednesday, January 13, 1993, at the Nampa hospital will be
conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 20, 1993, at the
Alsip Funeral Chapel, Nampa, Pastor Dick Shaw of the Caldwell
First Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will follow in
the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens,
Caldwell.
Boyd Burnie was born on January 9, 1913, in Wyboncy,
Kansas, to George and
Carrie Adolph Burnie. He moved with his family at the age of
one to Nampa. At the age of 9, the family moved to Wendell
where Boyd farmed until he was 23. He married Kathleen
Jacobson on July 5, 1935, in Caldwell. They moved to the
Payette area where they farmed. In 1941, they moved to Nampa
where they have since resided.
Boyd worked for the Midway
School District for
over 30 years as their school janitor and bus driver. He was
also a very talented carpenter always doing work around the
school and making things for the kids. He also enjoyed making
things for his own grandchildren. He and his wife also worked
on their home farm. He retired from the school at the age of
67.
Boyd was an avid fisherman and was a member of the Nampa
square dancing group, Dudes and Dolls.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Burnie of Nampa; a
son, Jerry L. Burnie of Nampa; two daughters, Bonnie Knie of
Caldwell and Wilma Jean Nichols of Chiliquin,
OR; two sisters, Thelma
Smittle of California and Ruby Huntly of Twin Falls; 16
grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and a
great-great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and
three grandsons.
Friends may call at the Alsip Funeral Chapel today until
9 p.m. and Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
