Catherine Bean

   Catherine Bean, 95, of Nampa, died Friday, October 2, 1992 at a Nampa care center. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 6th at the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Caldwell. Pastor Steve McPherson of the Nampa Church of the Brethren will officiate. Services are under the direction of the Alsip Funeral Chapel, Nampa.
    Mrs. Bean was born April 9, 1897 at Cincinnati, Iowa, the daughter of David Franklin and Elizabeth Horn Corder.  She was the last survivor of 12 brothers and sisters.  She moved to Frontier and Furnace counties in Nebraska with her parents in 1899 and received her education in Afton, Nebraska.
    She married Stephen Everett Bean, Sr. on August 6, 1916 and made their home in Nebraska where they farmed until moving to Nampa in 1938. They farmed south of Nampa for several years and owned & operated Bowman Sand and Gravel Co. for 20 years, Mr. Bean died October 1, 1969.
    Kitty was much loved by all children. She was a Sunday School teacher for many, many years. She enjoyed reading the Bible and quoting Bible verses. She was a member of the Orchard Avenue Club for many years and a life long member of the Church of the Brethren.
    She is survived by a son, Stephen E. Bean, Jr. of Caldwell; a daughter and son-in-law, Garnet and Roy Flanary of Nampa; a daughter-in-aw, Ruthie Bean of Imbler, Oregon; 7 grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 13 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Charles Bean, a granddaughter and two great-grandchildren.
    The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Nampa Church of the Brethren, 323 11th Ave. South Nampa, ID 83651.
    Friends may call at the Alsip Funeral Chapel Monday from 10:30 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.
