Carrie Mae
Drake, 91, of Nampa, died on Tuesday, June 20, 1995, at a
Nampa care center. Funeral services will be conducted at
10:30 a.m. Friday, June 23, 1995, at the Alsip Funeral Chapel,
Nampa. Dr. Dan Thimmell, pastor of the Nampa First
Congregational Church will officiate. Burial will follow
at the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Caldwell.
Carrie Mae Drake was born on July 20, 1903, in Rosemont, NE,
the daughter of Charles W. and Minnie E. Nelson. She was
reared and educated in Nebraska. She married Lester D.
Drake on Dec. 8, 1923, at Oberlin, KS. Following their
marriage they made their home in Nebraska until 1937 when they
moved to Nampa. Carrie worked at the J.C. Penny Store
for several years and later worked as a tailor at the
Alexander Men's Store. Her husband preceded her din
death in 1981.
Carrie was a member of the Nampa First Congregational Church,
a member and past president of the Nampa Eagles Auxiliary, a
member of the Colfax Rebekah Lodge #24 and the union Pacific
Old Timers Auxiliary. She enjoyed sewing and fishing.
She was a great homemaker. For many years she was active
in several bowling leagues having won a number of trophies.
Carrie Mae is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Elaine
and Foy Jenkins, Boise; her son and daughter-in-law, Orval and
Rosemary Drake, Emmett; her daughter-in-law, Judy Drake,
Fruitland, ID; 3 sisters, Helen Schelgel, McCook, NE, Fay
Fitzgibbons, No. Platte, NE, and Arlene Yost, Boise; 4
sisters-in-law, Rosa Wilcox, Bessie Vandervort and Erciel
Drake, all of McCook, NE and Nettie Gragg, Longmont, CO; 6
grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces,
nephews and friends.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Harold; her parents;
2 brothers, Glenn and Guy Nelson; and a sister-in-law, Violet
Drake in NE.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Arthritis
Foundation, 4696 Overland Road #538, Boise 83705 |
