William A. Doramus, 80, of Hermiston, Ore., formerly of Nampa
and Melba, who died Sunday, June 16, in a Hermiston hospital
will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Alsip Funeral,
Nampa. The Rev. Martin Gauby, pastor of the Mr. View
Church of the Brethren in Boise, will officiate.
Interment will follow in the Melba Cemetery.
Mr. Doramus was born on Feb. 28, 1905, in Hewins, Kan., to
Frank and Mary Doramus. He was reared in Kansas and
Oklahoma and at a young age came with his family to the Boise
Valley, where he completed his education. He then worked
on several sheep ranches in Owyhee County. He married
Lois Cruzan on March 16, 1927, in Newkirk, Okla. In 1926
they moved to the Melba area where they farmed. He also
worked as a mechanic and was employed with Associated Seed
Growers for several years. They then moved to California
and later to LaGrande, Ore., where he logged for many years.
Mrs. Doramus died on Nov. 20, 1956, and he had resided in
Irrigon, Ore., since. He had been a member of the
Baptist Church for 28 years.
He is survived by four sons, Bill Jr., Cusick, Wash.,
Charles, Hermiston, Ore., James, Cusick, Wash., and Leonard,
North Pole, Alaska; four daughters, Mary Jo Riedlinger,
Umatilla, Ore., Patricia McBride, Las Vegas, Nev., Jeannie
Tillman, Boise, and Sherry Oliver, Las Vegas, Nev.; one
brother, Dwenis Doramus, McCloud, Calif.; four sisters, Dolly
Murphy, Kuna, Frances Wood, McCarthur, Calif., Mary Heckathorn,
Mattawa, Wash., and Doris Case, Caldwell; 30 grandchildren; 33
great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. In
addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one
son and three daughters.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer
Society, in care of Mr. Bert Stone, 1643 Park Ave., Nampa,
Idaho 83651, or flowers may be sent. Friends may call at
the Alsip Funeral Chapel until 9 o'clock tonight and Friday
from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
