Memorial services for
Darrel D. Laeger, 40, of Athena, Ore., and formerly of the
Treasure Valley area, who died Saturday, Aug. 17, along with
his wife Jeanette in an automobile accident near Boise, will
be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Alsip Funeral Chapel,
Nampa. Bill Hansell, a Umatilla County (Ore.)
commissioner, will officiate.
Mr. Laeger was born Dec. 21, 1944, in Caldwell. He was
reared and educated in Notus, Caldwell and Nampa. He served
with the U.S. Marine Corps in the Vietnam War. He married
Jude Wintrode in 1961. He later married Jeanette P. Hoelzle
on Sept. 8, 1973, in Winnemucca,
Nev. They made their
home in Middleton for three years prior to moving to Athena.
He had worked at the Birdseye Plant and the Amalgamated Sugar
Co., both in Nampa, and at the time of his death was
self-employed as a carpenter. He was a member of the Nampa
First United Methodist
Church, Nampa Elks Lodge 1389 and a former member of the
Athena City Council. He was an accomplished bull rider and
had been involved in many rodeos throughout the country. He

He is survived by four daughters, Stacey Stallcup of
Caldwell, Shelly Laeger of Nampa and Jennifer Dawn and Nicole
Ranay Laeger, both at home; his parents, Roy and Margaret
Laeger of Middleton; two brothers, Merle Laeger of Middleton
and Lyle Laeger of Baker, Ore.; one brother-in-law, Bill
Hensley of Pendleton, Ore.; and several aunts, uncles, cousins
and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Darlene Hensley.
