Services for Dave Baarda, 85,
of Nampa, who died Sunday, Dec. 29, at his home, will be
conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Nampa First Church of
the Nazarene, 600 15th Ave. S., with the Rev. Vernon L.
Wilcox, associate pastor of the church, and the Rev. Robert L.
Miller of Point Loma Nazarene College, San Diego, Calif.,
officiating.
Interment will follow in the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens,
Caldwell.
Services and interment are under the direction of the Alsip
Funeral Chapel, Nampa.
Mr. Baarda was born on June 24, 1900, at Cubaard,
Friesland,
Holland, where he was reared
and educated. He married Celia Struikmans on May 8, 1926, in
Holland. In 1929 they came to the United States and made
their home in Southern California, where they owned and
operated a dairy farm.
In 1959 they moved to Nampa where they owned and operated
a dairy farm east of town. Mrs. Baarda died in 1972. He
retired from farming in 1977 and married Rae Harrel on Jan.
24, 1977, and they made their home in Nampa.
He was a member of the Nampa
First Church of the
Nazarene and the Society for the Blind.
He is survived by his wife of Nampa: three daughters and
sons-in-law, Dora and Evert Van Beek of Nampa, Grace and
Harold Saarloos of Apple Valley, Calif., and Martha and Gerald
Twamley of Lakewood, Calif: a son, Pete Baarda of Meridian: 13
grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces
and nephews and step-nieces and nephews in Idaho, California,
Washington, Pennsylvania, Africa, the Phillipines and Holland. |
