Ermel Gladys Baker, 80, of
Nampa, died Tuesday, November 16, 1993, at a Nampa retirement
center. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m.
Saturday, Nov. 20, 1993 at the Alsip Funeral Chapel, Nampa.
Rev. Lowell Byall, pastor of the Nampa First Untied
Presbyterian Church will officiate. Interment will follow in
the Hillcrest Memorial Garden, Caldwell.
Ermel Gladys Baker was born on Dec. 12, 1912, at Broken
Arrow, Oklahoma, to Edward and Lillie Wilson. At a young age
she moved to Idaho with her family where she was reared and
educated. The family lived in Eden, Idaho Falls, and the
Boise area. She married L.R. "Bake" Baker on August 9, 1929,
in Boise, where they made their home. She worked for the Old
Boise Floral Shop, downtown, and the Boise Floral Greenhouse.
In 1946 they moved to Nampa and she and Bake purchased the
Nampa Floral, which they owned and operated for many years.
She and Bake retired in 1980 and she spent many happy florist
hours in various aspects of the business.
Ermel loved the floral business and working with the
public. She was a member of the Nampa First United
Presbyterian Church. She had also been a member of the
Northwest Floral Association, the Snake River Valley Florist
Assoc., the Idaho State Florist Assoc., the Nampa Woman's
Century Club and the Nampa Lady Elks #1389. Ermel enjoyed
playing bridge and loved being with her family. She will be
greatly missed by her family and her friends.
Ermel is survived by her husband, L.R. "Bake" Baker,
Nampa; 1 son and daughter-in-law, Dick and Cheryl Baker,
Nampa; 2 sisters, Virgie McGahan, St George, Utah, Elsie
McGlenahan, Idaho Falls; 1 brother, Leslie Wayne Jones,
Winnemucca, Nevada; 4 grandsons, Rick and his wife, Bridget,
Nampa, Ron and his wife, Jane, Nampa, Randy of Silverdale,
Washington, Ryan of Nampa; 5 great-grandchildren, Lauren,
Ricky, Sean, Kellie, and Andy; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Alsip Funeral Chapel on Friday
from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 8 to 10 a.m. |
