Services for Edna M. King
Barnette, 82, of Caldwell, who died Friday, May 1, in a
Caldwell nursing home, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at
Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.
The Rev. Raymond Thompson of the Caldwell United
Methodist Church will officiate, with lodge rites by Pansy
Rebekah Lodge No. 37, Middleton. Burial will be in Hillcrest
Memorial Gardens,
Caldwell.
Mrs. Barnette was born July 6, 1904, in Monoma County,
Iowa, to Roy and Mary Modrell King. She later moved to Battle
Creek, Iowa, with her family. She graduated from high school
in Battle Creek then attended Cedar Rapids (Iowa)
Business College. She was employed as a secretary for
Goodwill Industries in Sioux City,
Iowa, and later worked
for a telephone company in Schaller,
Iowa.
In 1936 she moved to Caldwell where she was employed as a
bookkeeper for Idaho Egg Producers for 11 years. She also
worked at the Methodist Shop part-time for over 13 years.
She married William "Lloyd" Barnette Oct. 30, 1949, at
Winnemucca,
Nev. They farmed in the Black
Canyon area near Caldwell until retiring in 1959. Mr.
Barnette died in September 1980.
She was a member of the Caldwell United Methodist Church;
Pansy Rebekah Lodge No. 37, Middleton; and the American Legion
Auxiliary, Caldwell.
She is survived by three stepdaughters, Kathleen Barnette,
Monnie Reed and Opal Lane, all of Kingsport,
Tenn.; a stepson,
Edward l. Barnette of Gillette, Wyo.; a sister, Beulah Link of
Sioux City; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.

Friends may call today from 4 to 8 p.m., and Tuesday from
9 a.m. until noon at the Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. |
