Graveside services for
Mrs. Effie Applegate, 91, of Nampa Route 1, who died
Wednesday, May 9 at a Nampa hospital, will be conducted at 2
p.m. Tuesday at the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens with the Rev.
Kenneth B. Britt of Nampa First Christian Church officiating.
Friends are asked to please meet at the cemetery.
Services are under the direction of Alsip Funeral Chapel,
Nampa.
She was born Jan. 1, 1893 at Maeno, Mo. She was
reared and educated in Missouri where she married Samuel
Applegate Dec. 25, 1920. In 1923 th3y (sic) mved (sic)
to Parma where both worked as mail carriers. In 1936
they moved to Nampa to make their home.
She worked at the J.R. Simplot Plant in Caldwell for 15
years and also worked at the Harmony Cafe in Nampa for a
number of years. She was a member of the Nampa First
Christian Church, where she had been active in the Benevolent
Society and was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the
Veterans of Foreign Wars.
She is survived by four sons, Cyrus Channel of Santa
Barbara, Calif., Charles Ray Applegate, William Edward
Applegate and Robert Wayne Applegate, all of San Diego,
Calif.; three daughters, Mrs. Merle Dunfee of San Diego, Mrs.
Mary Campbell of Caldwell and Mrs. Mary Campbell of Caldwell
and Mrs. Alice Blecha of Nampa; 15 grandchildren; 26
great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1978, a son and
two daughters.
