Funeral services for Elfie Irene Cook, 68, 161 2nd
St. N., Nampa, who died Thursday at Caldwell Memorial
Hospital, will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Dakan Funeral
Chapel, Caldwell, with the Rev. Short of the Assembly of God
Church, Nampa, officiating. Interment will follow at
Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Caldwell.
She was born in Travis County, Texas April 15, 1912 to
Balger J. McGrady and Francis P. Wallace. She was married in
Brownsville Texas April 15, 1931 to Owen W. Cook.
She lived and worked on small ranches in southwest
Texas, where she worked as a waitress, cook, and at general
labor until 1943, when her husband joined the armed services
and moved to San Angelo, Texas. In 1947 they moved to
Junction, Texas, where they lived until 1960, when they moved
In 1973, they moved to Nampa, where she lived for the
rest of her life.
She is survived by two sons, Walter Lee Cook, Caldwell
and Roy Grady Cook, Nampa; two daughters, Billie Joan Gomer,
Nampa, and Elfie Fay Cooley, Natilia, Texas; a sister, Mrs.
Roena Beard, Brownsfield, Texas; two brothers, S. Hampton
Wallace, Junction, Texas and Raymond Wallace, San Angelo,
Texas; 15 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Heart Fund.
