services for Fred G. Fender, 90, of Caldwell, who died
Wednesday, Feb. 13, at a Caldwell nursing home, will be
conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 15, at the Flahiff Funeral
chapel, Caldwell. The Rev. Allen Nelson, former pastor
of the Caldwell Free Methodist Church, will officiate.
Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Caldwell
Mr. Fender was born Sept. 7, 1900, at Payne, Iowa, a son of
William and Laura Fender. He married Mabel L. Garland
Jan. 7, 1925, at Ainsworth, Neb., and the couple farmed and
ranched in Bassett, Neb., until moving to Caldwell in 1955.
He worked for Swift and Co. for many years and also at the
College of Idaho until his retirement. Mr. Fender was an
active member of the Free Methodist Church, Caldwell, and
enjoyed fishing and his yard work of flowers and shrubs.
He is survived by his son, Harold Fender of Nampa; two
sisters, Leola Vargason of Caldwell, and Mary Jean Cook of
Lincoln, Mont.; a brother, Bill Fender of Springfield, S.D.; a
sister, Reba Lukkes of Springfield; six grandchildren; and 10
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1988 and two sons,
Donald in 1931 and Delbert in 1970.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Caldwell Free
Methodist Church Building Fund, 3320 S. Montana, Caldwell
Friends may call until 98 p.m. today at the Flahiff Funeral
