Services for Georgene B. Garland Cope, 69, of 1623 5th St.
South, Nampa, who died Wednesday, Oct 5, at a Nampa hospital,
will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at the North Nampa Church
of the Nazarene with the Rev. R.W. Carpenter, pastor,
officiating.
Interment will follow in the Hillcrest Memorial
Gardens. Services and interment are under the direction
of the Alsip Funeral Chapel, Nampa.
She was born Jan. 29, 1914, at Bassett Neb., to Floyd
and Charity Jeffreys. She was reared and attended
schools in Bassett. She married Vernon L. Garland on
April 4, 1931 in Bassett and they started farming.
They moved to Caldwell in 1935. She later went to
work as a cook at the College of Idaho in Caldwell where she
was employed for 25 years. Mr. Garland died on Jan. 4,
1980. That same year she went to work at the Idaho State
School and Hospital in Nampa as a foster grandmother.
She married the Rev. Jacob A. Cope on Mary 31, 1981, in Nampa
where they had since resided.
She was a member of the North Nampa Church of the
Nazarene.
She is survived by her husband of Nampa; four sons,
Robert L. Garland, Ontario, Ore., Jack D. Garland, Beaverton,
Ore., Gary D. Garland, American Falls, and Danny K. Garland,
Caldwell; one sister, Mrs. Doris Carson, Bullhead City, Ariz.;
nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to her first husband she was preceded in
death by her parents, two sisters and one brother.
Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite
