Harry Bates

Services for Harry Lewis Bates, 69, 331 Liberty Dr., Nampa, who died Tuesday, June 7, of natural causes in a Nampa hospital, will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Alsip Funeral Chapel, Nampa, with Bishop D. Kotter, Nampa Eighth Ward Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, officiating.
     Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
     He was born June 2, 1914, at Portland
, Ore., to Arthur and Louise Bates.  He was reared and educated in Portland, retiring in 1979.  He married Norma Olsen in Vancouver, Wash., on March 15, 1968.  After his retirement, they moved to Nampa where they made their home.  He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed golfing, hunting, and fishing.
     He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Lynn E. Sammons, Tigard, Ore.; a sister, Vera Swanson, Cherokee, Iowa; two nieces and several cousins.
