Rosary
for Harry Matthew Charters Jr., 56, Melba Route 1, who died
Tuesday at a Boise hospital, will be recited at 8 p.m.
Thursday at Flahiff funeral Chapel of Nampa; Mass of
Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at St.
Paul's Catholic church, Nampa, by the Rev. Merle J. Fisher S.M.
Interment will be in the Melba Cemetery.
He was born April 18, 1925, at Nampa and was reared and
attended school at Melba. He had lived and ranched in
the Melba area all his adult life. He rodeoed
professionally from 1958 until 1968 and won the world
championship in steer wrestling in 1959 and was Rookie of the
Year in 1959. He married Jacqueline Dell Perry Aug. 12,
1965, at Carson City, Nev. He was a member of St.
Joseph's Catholic Church, Melba; a member of the Idaho
Cowboys' Association; the Idaho Cattle Feeders Association;
the Idaho Cattlemen's Association; the National Cattlemen's
Association; and a past member of the Professional Rodeo
Cowboys' Association.
He is survived by his wife, Melba; four sons; Ken
Charters, Albany, Ore.; Dennis Charters, Melba; Tom Charters,
Boise, and Dan Charters, Melba; a daughter, Kimberly Hagler,
Kuna; 10 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A
daughter, Teresa, his parents, and a brother and a sister
preceded him in death.
Memorials may be given to the Basque Charity Group, in
care of Tony Gabiola, Route 6, Box 89, Caldwell; the Melba
Community Auction, in care of the Melba Post Office; or
flowers may be sent. |
