James R. Dawson, 32, of
Middleton died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 1990, at home due to a
sudden illness. Funeral services with military honors will be
held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 1991, at the First Christian
Church, Caldwell.
The Rev. Doug Collins of the Star Christian Church will
officiate. Interment will follow at the Middleton Cemetery,
Middleton. Services are under the direction of Dakan Funeral
Chapel, Caldwell.
J.R. was born Aug. 21, 1958, at Grangeville, Idaho, the
son of Ralph and Georgia Dawson. He was raised in the
Grangeville area and attended school at Riggins. He joined the
Idaho Army National Gauard Feb. 25, 1976, at Grangeville. He
was the commanding officer of Company C, 1-183rd Aviation
Battalion, (atk Hel) at the time of his death. He married
Lucia M. Lammers, Sept. 3, 1988, at Caldwell. Shortly
thereafter they attended military schooling in the South and
East and later returned to make their home in the Middleton
area.
J.R. owned and operated several businesses including
farming, timber products and construction companies. He
attended BSU; Embry Riddle University and was attending
Command and General Staff College at Boise. His military
awards include the Senior Army Aviator Rating, Army
Commendation Award and Achievement Award.
He enjoyed being a helicopter pilot and was pursuing his
fixed wing ratings. He liked being in the woods and driving
trucks and heavy equipment. He enjoyed being a family man and
will be remembered for the loving, caring, hard-working man he
was.
Survivors include his wife, Lucia of Middleton; three
children from a previous marriage, Elaina, Raymond and Peter,
all of Emmett; his parents, Ralph and Georgia Dawson of
Sleight Creek, Idaho; a brother and sister-in-law, John and
Melva Dawson of Colville, Wash.; a sister and brother-in-law,
Gloria and Bert Teats of Lewiston; and several nieces and
nephews. |
