Jack Basabe

Rosary for Jack "John" J. Basabe, 78, of Nampa Route 7, who died Sunday, Aug. 5, in a Nampa hospital, will be recited at 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Nampa.
     Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at
11 a.m. Wednesday in St. Paul's Catholic Church, Nampa, by the Rev. Merle J. Fisher, S.M.  Entombment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Caldwell.
     He was born Oct. 25, 1905, in Deserto, Erandio
, Spain, and came to the U.S. at the age of 14 and settled in this area.  He later attended school in Boise.  He married Violet A. Bruno Sept. 23, 1930, in Nampa, and they made their home there.
     During World War II, they moved to Portland where he worked in the shipyards.  They later operated a restaurant and a barbershop.  Following their retirement, they returned to Nampa.
     He was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church.
     He is survived by his wife of Nampa; a sister, Louisa Galdos, Emmett; a brother, Jose Basabe, Spain; and several nieces and nephews.
     One son, Ernest Eugene Basabe, preceded him in death.

     Friends may call at Flahiff funeral Chapel of Nampa until 9 p.m. tonight, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and until 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.
