Katharyn Baker

     Katharyn E. Baker, 83, of Nampa, died Thursday, December 26, 1991, at a Nampa care center.  Memorial funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 31, 1991, at the Nampa First Christian Church.   Rev. Kenneth Britt, pastor of the church will officiate.
     Private family interment will precede the services at the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.  Services and interment are under the direction of the Alsip Funeral Chapel.
     Katharyn was born on June 1, 1908, at St. Joseph
, Missouri, to Orbah and Luella Foley Jackson.  In 1920 she moved with her family to Colorado Springs, Colorado, where she was reared and educated, graduating from high school there.
     She married W. Curtis Baker on May 4, 1929, in Denver, Colorado.  After their wedding, they lived in Colorado Springs.  In April of 1937 they moved to Nampa to make their home.  In 1942 she went to work for Grange Mutual Life Insurance Co. in Nampa.  She retired in 1970.  Curtis died on May 16, 1985, and Katharyn has resided in Nampa since.
     She was a member of the Nampa First Christian Church.  She also was a member and past Worthy Matron of the Nampa Chapter #30 Order of the Eastern Star and had been an advisor to the Job's Daughters in Nampa.
     Katharyn is survived by one daughter, Lillian (Mrs. David) Holleman, Danville
, California; one son, Jack T. Baker, Alsea, Oregon; four grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.  Besides her husband she was preceded in death by one sister, Lillian Brownlee.
     The family suggests memorial contributions to the Nampa First Christian Church of flowers may be sent.  Friends may call at the Alsip Funeral Chapel on today and Monday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
