Graveside
services for Kenneth E. Dowdy, 63, of Nampa, who died
Saturday, July 11, at a Boise hospital, will be held at 10:30
a.m. Thursday at the Melba Cemetery, under the direction of
Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Nampa.
The Rev. Lee M. Casebolt of the Boise Catholic diocese will
officiate. Military rites will be conducted by the
Divan-Sloneker American Legion Post No. 126 of Melba.
Friends may meet at the cemetery.
Mr. Dowdy was born June 25, 1924, at Ottawa, Kan., to Earl C.
and Mildred E. MacDonald Dowdy. He was reared and
educated there.
He served in the Army Air Corps in the Pacific Theater during
World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart and other
medals. He remained in the service for another tour of
duty after the war, then worked as a carpenter in the
Northwest and in Kansas.
He attended Kansas State University for two years.
He married Betty Jo Haywood April 17, 1981, in Portland,
Ore., where they lived until moving to Boise. They then
lived in Caldwell before moving to Melba.
He was a member of the Divan-Sloneker American Legion Post
No. 126.
He is survived by his wife of Melba; a son, Johnny Dowdy
Hutchins of Portland; four daughters, Kathryn Marie Dowdy of
Sepulveda, Calif., Teresa Huske of Topeka, Kan., Jill Dowdy of
Portland and Paula Dowdy of Emporia, Kan.; a sister, Betty
Jean Compton of Escondido, Calif.; eight grandchildren; a
niece and a nephew.
Friends may call at the Napa Flahiff chapel today until 6
p.m. |
