Funeral
Services for Lester D. Drake, 82, 220 Central Sugar Ave.,
Nampa, who died Thursday at his home will be conducted at
10:30 a.m. Monday at the Alsip Funeral Chapel with Steve
Moore, of the Meridian First Church of Christ, officiating.
Interment will follow in the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
He was born of Jan. 23, 1899 at Quick, Neb. to Alfred and
Mary Drake. He was reared and educated in Nebraska.
He married Carrie Mae Nelson, on Dec. 8, 1923 at Oberlin,
Kansas. They farmed at McCook, Neb., for several years.
In 1937 they moved to Nampa where he went to work on a dairy
near town. In 1941 he went to work for the Union Pacific
Railroad at the P.F.E Shops in Nampa. He retired as a
carman in 1964 and they had resided in Nampa since.
He was a member of the Baptist Church, a member of the Nampa
Eagles Lodge No. 2103, the Brotherhood of Railroad Carmen of
America and the Union Pacific Old Timers Club.
He is survived by his wife of Nampa; two sons, Harold Lester,
Nampa, and Orval A., Eagle; one daughter, Edna Elaine Jenkins,
Boise; two sisters, Nettie Gragg, Longmont, Colo., and Bessie
Vandervort, McCook, Neb.; six grandchildren, seven
great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Idaho
Chapter of the Kidney Foundation, care of St. Alphonsus
Hospital, 1055 North Curtis St., Boise, Idaho 83704, or
flowers may be sent. |
