Leona E. Canning, 87, of Nampa, died Friday, Nov. 12, 1993, at
her home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m.
Tuesday, Nov. 16, 1993, at the Alsip Funeral Chapel, Nampa.
Rev. Larry Gatlin, pastor of the Nampa First Assembly of God
Church will officiate. Burial will follow at the
Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Caldwell.
Leona E. Canning was born March 5, 1906, at Phillips,
Nebraska. She was reared and educated in Grand Island,
Nebraska. She married Howard Canning on Dec. 21, 1938,
in Grand Island where they made their home. They resided
in Sunnyside, WA, for a short time before moving to Nampa in
1945. Howard preceded her in death on Feb. 21, 1979.
She served as a volunteer at Central School for 12 years where
she would go in at 8 a.m. and stay until 4 p.m. She was
known as "Grandma" by everyone at the school. She was a
member of the Napa First Assembly of God Church.
Leona is survived by 2 sons and daughters-in-law,
Lonnie and Ettia Canning, Bend, OR, and Jerry and Ilene
Canning, Caldwell; 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Lodain and
George Jaques, Terry, Mt, Lorna and Mac Noll, Spokane, WA, and
Jane Anna and Tom :Little, Cataldo, Idaho; 1 sister, Thelma
Deharde, Scottsbluff, NE; 12 grandchildren; 4
great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by 2 sisters and a
great-grandson.
