Larry Bachman

    Larry Bachman, 48, of Oreana, died on Sunday, January 19, 1997, at his home of natural causes.
     Services will be held on Thursday, January 23, 1997, at 2 p.m. at First United Presbyterian Church, 400 Lake Lowell Avenue, Nampa, ID.  Burial will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 15862 Indiana Avenue, Caldwell, ID.  Services are under the direction of Summers Funeral Homes, Boise Chapel.
     Larry was born on April 22, 1948, at Nampa, the son of Bob and Joan Bachman.  He attended grade school at Oreana and graduated from high school at Grand View in 1967.  He continued on to college and graduated from Boise State College in 1969.  He lived in Boise from 1967 to 1978, when he moved to Oreana.  He married Noreen Brennan in November 1977.  He then went to work for the Owyhee County Assessor's office as an Appraiser from 1977 to 1986.  He was elected Owyhee County Assessor in 1986 and was serving his third term in office at the time of his death.  He married Mary Anne Black on July 4, 1989, and they resided in Grand View until they moved to Oreana in 1995.
     Larry was very active in the Idaho Association of Assessors and the Idaho Association of Counties (IAC) within District #3.  He was the IAC District #3 Representative for Assessors.  Currently, he was serving as Chairman of the State Tax Commission Rules Committee for the Idaho Assessor's Association.  He was also a member of the Motor Vehicle Committee, the Education Committee and the Legislative Committee, where he closely monitored legislation affecting counties and assessors.  He was a member of the Inter-governmental Affairs Committee of the IAC.  He also served on the State Tax Commission Advisory Committee.  He was a past board member of the Owyhee County Pioneer Cemetery District.
     Larry is survived by his wife, Mary Anne of Oreana;  two sons, Steve Bachman of Boise and Roger and his wife, Amy Bachman of Boise; two stepchildren, Anna Rahn of Boise and Patrick Rahn of Grand View; foster daughter, Mary Janis and her daughter, Keesha, both of Mountain Home; two sisters, Susan and her husband, Ralph Williams and Nina and her husband Lance Gilbert, all of Nampa; mother, Joan Bachman of Murphy; one nephew, Brent Rowland of Moscow and one aunt, Betty Carey of Seattle, WA.
     He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Bachman.

     Visitation will be held on today, January 22, 1997, until 8 p.m. at Summers Funeral Homes, Boise Chapel.  Memorials may be sent to the Grand View Ambulance/EMT, P.O. Box 191, Grand View, ID 83624.
