Services for Marie A.
Asp, 89, of Garden Valley, who died Sunday, March 8, at a
Boise hospital of natural causes, will be held at 2 p.m.
Friday at the Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.
The Rev. Bob Keys of the Donnelly Bible Church will
officiate. Burial will be at the Roswell Cemetery.
Mrs. Asp was born Nov. 30, 1897, at Tonica, Ill., to
Thomas and Clara Hetrick. At the age of 2, she moved
with her parents to Blackwell, Okla. They came to Idaho
in 1913, settling in the Wilder area.
She attended schools in Caldwell and also attended
Boise Teachers' College and Lewiston Normal School. She
taught school for 11 years in the Wilder area and other
communities in the west Treasure Valley.
She married A. William Asp, May 18, 1928, at Roswell.
They farmed in the Arena Valley area near Wilder for a number
of years, moving to Garden Valley in 1936. They operated
the Garden Valley store for many years.
She was a member of the Syringa Club in Garden Valley.
Mr. Asp died April 20, 1983.
She is survived by a daughter, Velma Coulter of Garden
Valley; a brother, Irv Hetrick of Wilder; a sister, Nellie
Hamiliton (sic?) of Wilder; four grandchildren; eight
great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Ira.
Friends may cal from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the
Caldwell Dakan chapel.
