Rosary devotions for Peter J. Burns, 76, of Nampa, who died
Friday, March 18, at his home will be recited at 8 p.m. today
at the Alsip Funeral Chapel. Mass of the Christian Burial
will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m.
Monday at St. Paulís
Catholic Church with the Rev. Merle J. Fisher, S.M.,
celebrating. Interment with graveside rites by the Nampa
B.P.O.E. 1389 will follow in the Mt.
He was born on Feb. 18, 1907, at Newark, N.Y. to John and
Dora Burns. He was reared ad educated in Newark. After his
schooling, he entered the retail business and worked in
several department stores in the western states and in 1940
came to Nampa where he was manager of the Falks I.D. Store.
He married Helen S. Schwab on May 10, 1943, in Belleville,
N.Y. He served in the
U.S, Army during World War II and was honorably discharged as
a master sergeant in 1945. He then returned to Nampa where he
started the Idaho Adjustment Service which he owned and
operated until his retirement in 1970. They had resided in
Nampa since. He was very active in the Nampa March of Dimes.
He was a member of St.
Paulís Catholic Church
and a member of the Knights of Columbus, a life member of the
Nampa Lodge B.P.O.E. 1389 and past commander of the Joseph H.
Murray American Legion Post 18 of Nampa.
He is survived by his wife of Nampa; two sons, Michael
of Ben Lomond, Calif., and Terry of Nampa; two daughters,
Patricia Edwards of Caldwell and Dolores Conwell of Meridian;
two brothers, William and Harry Burns, both of New Jersey; one
sister Jennie Delonas of Pennsylvania; five grandchildren and
one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his
parents, three brothers and one sister.
Pallbearers will be Steven Edwards, R.L. Jones, Harry
Smith, Ray Hautzinger, Art OíKeefe and Heyward Willer.
The family suggest memorial contributions to St. Paulís
School in Nampa or flowers may be sent.
