Services for Mary S.
Allred, 78, of Caldwell, who died Thursday, Dec. 3, at the
Caldwell hospital, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the
Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.
The Rev. Jeff Cook of the Memorial Park Baptist Church,
Caldwell, will officiate. Private burial will be at
Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Caldwell.
Mrs. Allred was born Nov. 15, 1909, at Whitesville,
Ky., to William and Mary Alice Crowe. She lived in
Whitesville until the age of 6 when she moved with her parents
to Illiopolis, Ill., where she was reared and educated.
In 1927 she moved with her family to Whittier, Calif.
where she met and married Robert T. Baker on Nov. 22, 1927.
They moved to Coachella, Calif. in 1944. Mr. Baker died
in 1945.
She returned to Whittier where she met and married
David Allred and joined him in his building contracting
business. They moved to Caldwell in March 1954 and
bought the Hill-Drop Ranch on South Kimball Avenue where they
farmed for five years and then returned to the building
contracting business. They retired in 1971. Mr.
Allred died in 1977.
She was a member of Memorial Park Baptist Church where
she was active in various offices and Hospital Auxiliary.
She is survived by a son, Robert Baker of Caldwell; a
stepdaughter, Modesta Scott of Whittier; a
stepdaughter-in-law, Wilma Fail of Caldwell; four
stepgrandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a niece; and three
nephews.
She was preceded in death by a stepson, Gaylon Allred,
in 1968.
Memorials may be given to the Memorial Park Baptist
Church, Caldwell.
Friends may call Sunday from 1 to 6 p.m. at the Flahiff
Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. |
