Mark DeVries

      NAMPA - Services for Mark DeVries, 71, of.324 E. Hawaii Ave., Nampa, who died Saturday at a Nampa hospital, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Shepherd Mortuary Chapel by the Rev. Edward Dixon of the Franklin Community Church.
     Private interment services will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
     He was born Jan. 18, 1899, at Rostergaast, Friesland, The Netherlands. He came to the United States In 1920, settling in Columbus, Mont.  He later worked for the Ford Motor Co., in Chicago and came to Nampa in 1929.  He married Margaret Ethel Summers Jan. 10, 1934 at Caldwell. He worked for the American Oil Co., beginning in 1937 and acquired the agency in Nampa for that company in 1947.  He retired Jan. 18, 1964.
      He was a member of the Nampa First United Methodist Church and Nampa Lodge No. 29, AF&AM.
     Surviving are his wife; three sons, Norman E. DeVries of Portland, Ore., Richard J. DeVries of Eugene, Ore., and Mark DeVries Jr. of Hampton Beach, N.H.; and two granddaughters.
    Five brothers preceded him in death.  
    Friends may call at the Shepherd Mortuary Chapel today and this evening and until time of services Wednesday. The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Heart Fund.
    Pallbearers will be Edward Hiemstra, George Hiemstra,  Douwe Hoogterp, Ernest Slaughter, Lester L. Yates Jr. and Dean Fisher. Honorary pallbearers are Thomas Farrer, Henry King, M.D. (Mutt) Brassfield, Ralph Little, Lewis Rycraft and Henry Woodall.
