Services for Otto Deide, 85, of Caldwell, who died Wednesday,
July 16, at the Caldwell hospital, will be held at 10:30 a.m.
Saturday, at the Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.
Bill Free of the Caldwell Church of Christ will officiate
with burial following at the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens,
Caldwell.
Mr. Deide, a retired farmer, was born Nov. 30, 1900, in
Wells County, N.D., to Gotlieb and Pauline Deide. He was
raised in North Dakota.
He married Lillian Copenhaver Jan. 27, 1926, at Mandan,
N.D. They moved to Iowa, where they farmed until coming to the
Caldwell area in 1937.
Mr. Deide was one of the first farmers in the area to
raise commercial seed crops. He farmed in Caldwell until
retiring in 1965.
He is survived by his wife of Caldwell; three sons, Lloyd
and Darrel Deide, both of Caldwell, and Del Deide of Omaha,
Neb.; a daughter, Clarice Groesbeck of Heyburn; two brothers,
Bill Deide of Luck, Wis., and Jake Diede of Mercer, N.D.; four
sisters, Clara Davis of Baldwin, Minn., Sophie Derheim of
McClusky, N.D., Esther Wiebe of Hurdsfield, N.D., and Martha
Thompson of Mercer; 13 grand children; and eight
great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, two sisters and
a grandson.

Scholarship Fund, in care of Dakan Funeral Chapel, P.O. Box
1386, Caldwell 83606; or to a favorite charity.
