NAMPA – Rosary devotions for Rebecca (Ethel) M. Mapes,
78, of 316 19th Ave. S., Nampa, who died Monday in
a Nampa hospital, will be tomorrow at 8 p.m. At Shepherd
Mortuary. Requiem High Mass will be at St. Paul's Catholic
Church at 10 a.m. Friday with the Rev. Fr. Edward McMonagle,
S. M., as celebrant.
Mrs. Mapes was born in Portsmouth, Ohio, Sept. 29,
1885. She left Portsmouth as an infant and moved with her
parents to Lafayette, Ind., where she was married to Robert W.
Birch on July 8, 1912 in Indianapolis, Ind. He died May 21,
She was married to Henry Mapes July 23, 1938 in
Indiana. She had lived in Nampa since 1946.
Mrs. Mapes was a member of the St. Paul's Altar Society
and an auxiliary member of St. Paul's Legion of Mary.
Surviving are her husband, W. H. Mapes of Nampa; one
daughter, Mrs. Arbutus Roberts of Trenton, Mich.; one
grandson, Raymond Roberts, of Rockwood, Mich. A daughter,
Mrs. Narcissus Kosinski, died in December of 1959.
