Phio Ortega
Services for Phil G. Ortega, 78,
of Ontario, Ore., who died Thursday, July 24, at a Boise
hospital will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, at
Flahiff Funeral Chapel of Nampa. Wanda Martinez of Nampa
will officiate. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary
Cemetery, Nampa. Family services will
be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Nampa.
Mr. Ortega was born Nov. 25, 1907, at
Saguache, Colo., to Pablo F. and Maximina Gonzales Ortega.
He was reared and attended school there for several years.
He moved with his father and lived in several communities in
Colorado, and later in the northwestern states.
He married Mary Lucille Ross Hernandez on June 9, 1936, at
Elko, Nev. They lived in the Twin Falls area where he
worked on various farms and ranches. They were
divorced in 1943. He served in the U.S. Army during
1942-1943. He married Mary Helen
Trejillo on Aug. 15, 1945, at Vernal, Utah and they lived in
various Treasure Valley communities during the course of his
farm work. They moved to Ontario in 1971. Mrs.
Ortega died June 22, 1982. He was a
member of the Catholic Church. He is
survived by four sons, Phil James Ortega of Sacramento,
Calif., Larry John Ortega of Wendover, Utah, Joe Richard
Ortega and Daniel Leroy Ortega, both of Ontario; eight
daughters, Josephine Maloy of Tahachapi, Calif., Teresa
Martindale of Twin Falls, Elaine Flores and Gloria Mireles,
both of Payette, Evelyn DeLaCruz, Donna Roldan, Diane
Fernandez and Kathy Ortega, all of Ontario; four brothers,
Marion of Albequerque, N.M., Polinar of Gary, Ind., Clarence
of Sacramento, Calif., Claudi of Chicago, Ill.; five
sisters, Dora of Chicago; Rose of Snowville, Utah, Shirley
of Malad, Veronica and Mickey, both of Sacramento, Calif.;
41 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and several nieces
and nephews. He was preceded in death
by his parents, three daughters, one son, two brothers, one
sister and three grandchildren.
