Chester W. Birch, 79, of the Riverside Community, near Caldwell, died Tuesday, April 18, 1995, at home of natural causes. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 21, 1995, at the Greenleaf Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.
Mr. Birch was born October 9, 1915, in the Riverside Community, southwest of Caldwell, the son of Arthur and Edith Larrance Birch. He was raised and educated there. He moved to Mt. Shasta, California, where he worked in a lumber mill. He married Katheryn Baker January 31, 1937, at the Riverside Friends Church. They made their home in Mr. Shasta for three years and then returned to the Riverside Community where he has since farmed and raised cattle.
Mr. Birch was birthright member of the Friends Church and in later years became a member of the Marsing Church of the Nazarene.
Surviving are his wife, Katheryn and a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Gennell Birch, all of the Riverside Community; two brothers, Glen Birch of Caldwell and Clarence Birch of Riverside; a sister, Laura Dymoke of Portland; three grandsons, Kenny, Matthew and Justin Birch; two step granddaughters, Angie and Debbie Parmer; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew.
His family suggests that memorials be made to the Greenleaf Friends Academy or to a favorite charity.
