Last rites for Mrs.
Lulu Oatie Shaffer, 81, former Caldwell resident who died
Sunday night in a Nampa nursing home, were held Wednesday at
2:30 p.m. at the Flahiff chapel. The Rev. Harold Nye
officiated. Interment was at Middleton.
Mrs. Shaffer was born Nov. 25, 1876, in Cortland, Ind.,
and moved with her family to Idaho in 1890, locating in the
Central Park district near Middleton. She was married to
R. C. Carpenter April 16 1898, in Payette and later was
married to Lee R. Shaffer Feb. 26, 1925, in Ontario.
They resided in Middleton until 1943, when they moved to
Caldwell. Mr. Shaffer died at Caldwell in 1956.
She was a member of the National Woman's Relief corps
and the Woman's Society of Christian Service of Caldwell.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Elma Johnson of
Red Bluff, Calif.; three grandchildren; four great
grandchildren; a stepson, Boyd B. Shaffer of Wilder, and
a step-daughter, Mrs. Zella A. Berner of Nampa. |
