Death of Mrs. W. C. McKenzie Friday morning at Portland removed another member from the list of pioneer Caldwell and Middleton residents. Mr. and Mrs. McKenzie left here December 1 for Portland where they planned to spend Christmas with their daughter, Mrs. John Sargent and family and Dec. 6, Mrs. McKenzie suffered a stroke from which she failed to rally. Mrs. M. E. Gilgan-Sarchet was notified of her sister's death Friday evening. Margaret Anna Gilgan was born at Watertown, N Y., August 27, 1871. Following graduation from the Watertown high school in 1890 she lived in Chicago for a four year period before coming to Caldwell April 1, 1894. For several years, the Gilgan sisters, Martha and Anna conducted Caldwell's only exclusive millinery store. In February, 1900, Miss Anna Gilgan of Caldwell and William C. McKenzie of Middleton for a year and moved to New England, N. D., rfemained there for 15 years and moved to Missoula, Mont., lived there for 20 years and returned to Middleton four years ago where they have continued to make their home. Survivors besides Mrs. Sarchet of Caldwell are three sons, Robert McKenzie, Glendale, Cal.; Edwin McKenzie, Whitefish, Mont.; Curtis McKinzie, who is stationed in Manila; besides Mrs. Sargent there are three other daughters, Mrs. Masie Flannigan of Belt, Mont.; Mrs. Martha Knight, Deer Lodge, Mont.; Mrs. Elizabeth Goldhahn, Geraldine, Mont.; one brother, Joe Gilgan of Sunnyvale, Cal., formerly of Caldwell, and eight grandchildren. Accompanied by Mr. McKenzie and Mrs. Sargent, the body will arrive here Monday noon. The Rosarty will be recited at the Peckham chapel Monday evening at 8 o'clock. Father Ln N. Dougherty will officiate at Requiem Mass Tuesday at 10 a. m. at St. Mary's Catholic church. Burial will be in Canyon Hill cemetery.
