Services for Walter
Choat, 81, of Nampa, who died Saturday, Nov 22, at the Nampa
hospital, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Flahiff
Funeral Chapel, Nampa.
The Rev. Lowell Byall of the First United Presbyterian
Church, Nampa, will officiate. Burial will follow at
Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Caldwell.
Mr. Choat was born Sept. 22, 1905, at Madison, Neb., to
William S. and Grace Elizabeth Earl Choat. He was reared
and educated in Boone County, Neb.
He married Esther Foreman Dec. 22, 1926, at Albion,
Neb., where they made their home and farmed.
They moved in 1941 to Salt Lake City, Utah, where he
was employed by the Remington
Arms Plant during World War II. Thereafter, he worked
for the Union Pacific Railroad for three years prior to moving
to Nampa in 1948. He was a yardman for Borchert's Feed
and Coal Company here until retiring in 1972.
Mr. Choat was a member and a deacon of the First United
Presbyterian Church, Nampa. He is survived by his wife,
of Nampa; a son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Gussie Choat of
Nampa; a brother and sister-in-law, Lyle and Mina Jean Choat
of Hot Springs, Ark,; a sister and brother-in-law, Merle and
Ivan Wallick of Albion; a granddaughter and grandson-in-law;
two grandsons and granddaughters-in-law; two
great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers.
Memorials may be made to the Patients Assistance
Committee, in care of Mountain States Tumor Institute, Boise;
or flowers may be sent.
Friends may call at the Nampa Flahiff Chapel today
until 9 p.m., Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and on Wednesday
until time of services.
