Through a Corner of Oregon and Nevada

Aug. 14 Left Homedale where we camped 1/4 mi. from town at 7:30 p.m.; then traveled to Jordan Valley, Oregon. Started on and ate our dinner by a hotel on the desert. Got water and started on and got about 5 mi. when we noticed our car could not travel. Upon examination it was found to be that our oil was gone. We coasted almost all the way back to ranch their we thought we might be for a week, but we patched it up with cloth and chewing gum. Left Aug. 15 at 12:50 p.m., drove until 3:30 and going up a hill, the back right wheel came out; fixed this and started on and arrived at McDermitt at 7:55 p.m. This town his half in Oregon and the other half in Nevada. It rained on us. |

Left at 3:45 p.m., who 15 mi. and had a flat tire at 5; started on and at 6 got
to a place; camped by road side by a ravine; at 8 p.m. it rained on us again.
Left for Winnemucca at 9:15; drove to a ranch, ate breakfast, started on and
had a flat tire at 1:10 p.m. Arrived at Winnemucca at 2:55 and had a flat tire
just as we drove in. Ate supper at a restaurant and left at 6:30 p.m.; we drove
30 mi. to Mill City and camped in the dust--this was horrid!
Left Mill City at; stopped at Rye Patch and ate dinner and went on and an a
blow-out on the way to Lovelock; put on a new casing. Arrived in Lovelock
at 3:15 p.m.; here a bridge was built over the R. R. Left at 4:10, drove out
several miles and had to camp on desert.
Left at 8:10 a.m. and at 10 met a car who turned out for us and got stuck. We
got past and at 11:15 started on and arrived in Wadsworth at 11:20. Here we
had the car worked on and ate our dinner in an old restaurant where we had a
table and chairs. Left at 3:45 p.m. for Reno, Nevada; arrived at Reno at 5:45,
ate supper at a restaurant and wrote and drove out a way and camped in an
apple orchard.
