The main Oregon
Trail passed through the western part of Caribou County, past the  Soda
Springs and Sheep Rock, always
headed to the northwest.
Lander's Cutoff came out of Wyoming and across the northern part of the county to rejoin the main trail. Hudspeth's Cutoff left the main trail at Sheep Rock and headed west for the California Trail. |
